PNP Draw Issues 1,047 ITAs with CRS Cut-Off of 761.
On March 2, 2022, IRCC conducted Express Entry Draw 217,
exclusively targeting Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. In this
round, 1,047 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued, and the lowest CRS score
required was 761. This draw continued the trend of provincial-focused
selections in early 2022. With over a thousand ITAs issued, it reflected the
significant role provinces play in shaping Canada’s skilled immigration
landscape.
The CRS cut-off of 761, while high, is typical for
PNP-specific draws because successful candidates automatically receive 600
extra CRS points for a provincial nomination. This means that even candidates
with a base CRS of around 160–170 could become highly competitive once
nominated.
The focus remained on candidates nominated by provinces to
meet regional labor market needs. Candidates from diverse sectors, including
technology, healthcare, and skilled trades, were likely included. This round
reinforced that provincial nominations remain one of the fastest and most
reliable paths to permanent residence.
