Manitoba conducted Expression of Interest Draw #189 on
August 10, 2023, issuing a total of 615 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) under
the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, International Education Stream, and Skilled
Worker Overseas streams.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 249 candidates in occupation-specific selections were invited. Eligible profiles included
those currently employed in Manitoba in occupations identified with high labour
needs based on Statistics Canada data. The National Occupational Classification
(NOC) 2021 major groups considered were 94 – Machine operators, assemblers and
inspectors in processing, manufacturing and printing, and 95 – Labourers in
processing, manufacturing and utilities. All other eligible profiles not
selected in the occupation-specific stream were also considered, with 279 LAAs issued. The lowest-ranked candidates scored 605 in the occupation-specific
selection and 647 in the general pool.
The International Education Stream issued 47 LAAs to
candidates meeting eligibility requirements, supporting international graduates
contributing to Manitoba’s workforce.
For the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 40 candidates were
invited under strategic recruitment initiatives, with the lowest-ranked
candidate scoring 708.
Of the 615 LAAs issued in this draw, 43 were granted to
candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker
validation code, providing a pathway from provincial nomination to federal
permanent residence.
