Manitoba PNP Expression of Interest Draw #40

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #40 on January 31, 2018, issuing a total of 546 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across several immigration pathways. Invitations were distributed through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas, and Express Entry sub-stream, reflecting Manitoba’s continued effort to attract skilled individuals who can support the province’s workforce and economic growth.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba

Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 191 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.

Lowest score invited: 524

This pathway primarily targets individuals already employed in Manitoba. Candidates who demonstrate stable employment, relevant professional experience, and language proficiency generally rank higher in the Expression of Interest pool.

Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic Recruitment

The Skilled Worker Overseas stream issued 64 invitations to candidates who had been directly invited by the MPNP through strategic recruitment initiatives.

Lowest score invited: 647

These applicants were typically identified through recruitment activities conducted by Manitoba to attract skilled professionals from outside Canada whose qualifications align with provincial labour market demands.

Skilled Worker Overseas – Manitoba Connections

An additional 143 invitations were issued to overseas candidates who demonstrated strong connections to Manitoba, such as having a close family member living in the province or previous study or work experience in Manitoba.

Lowest score invited: 605

To qualify, candidates were also required to have at least six months of recent experience in an occupation listed on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List. Language requirements generally included a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5, although higher language levels were required for certain professions. Regulated occupations typically required CLB 7, while compulsory trades required CLB 6.

Express Entry Sub-Stream

Through the Express Entry sub-stream, 148 LAAs were issued to candidates with an active Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.

Lowest score invited: 560

Applicants invited under this pathway also needed recent work experience in an occupation identified on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List. Nomination through this stream allows candidates to benefit from the federal Express Entry system, significantly improving their chances of obtaining permanent residence.

EOI Draw #40 demonstrated Manitoba’s multi-stream approach to selecting skilled immigrants. By inviting candidates already working in the province, individuals with established connections to Manitoba, and Express Entry applicants with in-demand skills, the province continues to align its immigration strategy with labour market needs. Staying informed about draw results, score thresholds, and eligibility criteria can help prospective applicants better prepare for opportunities under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
