Manitoba PNP Expression of Interest Draw #42

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #42 on March 13, 2018, issuing a total of 638 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration pathways. Invitations were distributed among the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas, and Express Entry sub-stream, reflecting Manitoba’s continued focus on attracting skilled individuals who can support the province’s labour market.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba

Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 184 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.

Lowest score invited: 545

This stream primarily targets individuals who are already employed in Manitoba. Candidates with consistent employment, relevant professional experience, and strong language skills generally have stronger rankings within the Expression of Interest system.

Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic Recruitment

The Skilled Worker Overseas stream issued 57 invitations to candidates who had been directly invited by the MPNP through strategic recruitment initiatives.

Lowest score invited: 703

These invitations were extended to individuals identified through recruitment activities organized by the province. Such candidates often demonstrate strong educational backgrounds, skilled work experience, and qualifications aligned with Manitoba’s economic priorities.

Skilled Worker Overseas – Manitoba Connections

An additional 144 invitations were issued to overseas applicants who demonstrated established ties to Manitoba, such as having close relatives in the province or previous education or work experience in Manitoba.

Lowest score invited: 590

To qualify under this category, candidates were required to have at least six months of recent experience in an occupation listed on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List. Language requirements typically included a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5, though higher scores were required for certain professions. Regulated occupations generally required CLB 7, while compulsory trades required CLB 6.

Express Entry Sub-Stream

Through the Express Entry sub-stream, 253 LAAs were issued to candidates with an active Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.
Lowest score invited: 545

Candidates invited under this pathway were also required to have recent work experience in an occupation included on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List. A nomination through this stream allows applicants to receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly increasing their chances of obtaining an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

EOI Draw #42 demonstrated Manitoba’s continued multi-stream immigration strategy. By inviting skilled workers already employed in the province, overseas applicants with relevant connections, and Express Entry candidates with in-demand experience, Manitoba aims to address labour market needs while strengthening its workforce. Monitoring draw patterns, cutoff scores, and eligibility criteria remains essential for candidates planning to apply through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
