The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted
Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #53 on November 8, 2018, issuing a total of
469 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams.
Invitations were distributed through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled
Worker Overseas – Strategic Recruitment, and Skilled Worker Overseas – Manitoba
Connections pathways, reflecting Manitoba’s ongoing focus on selecting skilled
candidates who meet provincial labour market needs.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 300 candidates
received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.
Lowest score invited: 602
This stream targets individuals already employed in Manitoba. Candidates with
steady employment, relevant experience, and strong language proficiency
generally achieve higher rankings in the Expression of Interest system.
Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic
Recruitment
The Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic Recruitment stream
issued 69 invitations to candidates who had been directly invited by the MPNP.
Lowest score invited: 705
These applicants were selected through Manitoba’s targeted
recruitment initiatives aimed at attracting skilled professionals from outside
Canada with qualifications aligned to provincial workforce priorities.
Skilled Worker Overseas – Manitoba
Connections
An additional 100 invitations were issued to overseas
applicants who demonstrated strong ties to Manitoba, such as having a close
relative in the province or previous education or work experience in Manitoba.
Lowest score invited: 610
Eligible candidates were required to have at least six
months of recent experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-Demand
Occupations List. Language requirements included a minimum CLB 5, with higher
benchmarks for regulated occupations (CLB 7) or compulsory trades (CLB 6).
EOI Draw #53 highlighted Manitoba’s strategic approach to
immigration, combining the selection of skilled workers already in the province
with overseas applicants who possess relevant experience or connections. This
multi-stream approach helps address labour market needs while strengthening
Manitoba’s workforce. Monitoring draw results, score thresholds, and
eligibility requirements is essential for prospective applicants under the
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
