The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #97 on August 27, 2020, issuing a total of 213 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across its primary immigration streams.
The latest Manitoba PNP draw reflected a continued focus on supporting
in-province workers while maintaining highly selective overseas recruitment.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba
The Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream accounted for the
majority of invitations in Draw #97, with 171 candidates invited.
Lowest-ranked candidate invited: 475
The cutoff score indicated steady competition among candidates employed in
Manitoba. Applicants with consistent full-time employment, strong language
proficiency, and well-optimized Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles remained
best positioned to receive invitations.
International Education Stream
Under the International Education Stream (IES), 34 Letters
of Advice to Apply were issued to eligible Manitoba graduates.
This stream does not use a ranking score system. Instead,
candidates must satisfy specific eligibility criteria, including graduation
from an approved Manitoba post-secondary institution and meeting employment
requirements. Careful preparation and accurate documentation are essential for
a successful nomination under this pathway.
Skilled Worker Overseas
The Skilled Worker Overseas stream issued 8 invitations in
this round.
Lowest-ranked candidate invited: 824
The significantly high cutoff score demonstrated the
competitive and limited nature of overseas invitations in this draw. Candidates
selected under this stream typically possess strong human capital factors,
including high levels of education, skilled work experience, language ability,
and credible provincial connections aligned with Manitoba’s labour market
priorities.
Of the 213 LAAs issued, 23 were granted to candidates who
declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code.
Candidates aligned with the federal Express Entry system
benefit from faster permanent residence processing after receiving a provincial
nomination. A Manitoba nomination provides an additional 600 Comprehensive
Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly increasing the likelihood of
receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw #97 highlighted Manitoba’s
balanced yet selective immigration strategy, prioritizing skilled workers
already contributing to the provincial economy while maintaining strict
selection standards for overseas applicants. Monitoring MPNP draw trends,
cutoff scores, and stream allocations remains essential for prospective
immigrants planning their pathway through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee
Program.
