The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held
Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #99 on September 24, 2020, issuing a total of
189 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across its major immigration streams. The
latest Manitoba PNP draw highlighted the province’s continued focus on
in-demand skilled workers while maintaining a highly selective approach to
overseas candidates.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba
The Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream received the majority
of invitations in Draw #99, with 160 candidates invited.
Lowest-ranked candidate invited: 464
The cutoff score reflected steady competition among
candidates already employed in Manitoba. Individuals with secure, long-term
employment, strong language proficiency, and well-structured Expression of
Interest (EOI) profiles remained best positioned for selection under this
stream.
International Education Stream
Under the International Education Stream (IES), 25 Letters
of Advice to Apply were issued to eligible Manitoba graduates.
This stream does not rely on a ranking score system.
Instead, candidates must meet defined eligibility criteria, including
graduation from an approved Manitoba post-secondary institution and obtaining
qualifying employment. Compliance with program requirements and proper
documentation is essential for nomination approval.
Skilled Worker Overseas
The Skilled Worker Overseas stream saw 4 invitations issued
in this draw.
Lowest-ranked candidate invited: 847
The significantly high cutoff score underscored the limited and competitive
nature of overseas invitations in this round. Successful applicants typically
demonstrated strong education credentials, extensive skilled work experience,
high language proficiency, and credible provincial connections aligned with
Manitoba’s labour market priorities.
Of the 189 LAAs issued, 18 were granted to candidates who declared a valid
Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code.
Candidates aligned with the federal Express Entry system
benefit from accelerated processing timelines once nominated by Manitoba. A
provincial nomination adds 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points,
significantly increasing the likelihood of receiving an Invitation to Apply
(ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw #99 demonstrated Manitoba’s
strategic immigration selection model, prioritizing skilled workers
contributing to the provincial economy while maintaining stringent criteria for
overseas recruitment. Monitoring Manitoba PNP draw scores and stream trends
remains critical for candidates preparing for future invitations under the
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
