The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #118 on June 7, 2021, issuing a total of 142
Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This
draw reflected a smaller round compared to previous months, while continuing
Manitoba’s strategy of prioritizing skilled workers in the province, supporting
international graduates, and maintaining selective invitations for overseas
applicants.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 95 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited
having a score of 375. The lower cutoff score demonstrated increased
accessibility for in-province applicants, while still emphasizing the
importance of stable employment, language proficiency, and accurate profile
submissions to remain competitive within the Skilled Worker in Manitoba
category.
The International Education Stream accounted for 22
invitations in this round, offering continued opportunities for eligible
Manitoba graduates who meet employment and program criteria. Although this
stream does not operate on the same ranking score system as other categories,
careful compliance with eligibility requirements and thorough documentation
remain essential to secure nomination.
Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 25 candidates were
invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 708. The relatively
high cutoff score reflected ongoing competition among overseas applicants,
highlighting the importance of strong human capital factors, occupation
alignment with provincial labour demand, and credible provincial connections
for candidates applying from outside Canada.
Of the 142 Letters of Advice to Apply issued in Draw #118,
13 were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number
and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations provide a
strategic advantage by facilitating faster federal processing, offering
selected applicants a smoother pathway to Canadian permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw #118 reinforced Manitoba’s
continued approach of balancing in-province skilled worker selection with
opportunities for international graduates and selective overseas applicants.
The variation in cutoff scores across streams highlighted the importance of
monitoring draw trends and preparing profiles strategically to maximize the
chance of receiving an invitation.
