The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted
Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #50 on September 14, 2018, issuing a total of
432 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple streams. Invitations were
extended through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas –
Strategic Recruitment, and Skilled Worker Overseas – Manitoba Connections
pathways, reflecting Manitoba’s continued focus on selecting candidates who can
support the province’s workforce and economy.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 200 candidates
received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.
Lowest score invited: 721
This stream targets individuals already employed in
Manitoba. Applicants with stable employment, relevant experience, and strong
language proficiency generally achieve higher rankings in the Expression of
Interest system.
Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic
Recruitment
Through the Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic Recruitment
stream, 82 invitations were issued to candidates directly invited by the MPNP.
Lowest score invited: 709
These candidates were identified through targeted
recruitment initiatives aimed at attracting skilled professionals from outside
Canada whose qualifications align with provincial labour market priorities.
Skilled Worker Overseas – Manitoba
Connections
An additional 150 invitations were issued to overseas
applicants with strong ties to Manitoba, such as having a close relative in the
province or previous education or work experience in Manitoba.
Lowest score invited: 604
Candidates under this category were required to have at least six months of
recent experience in an occupation listed on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations
List. Language requirements generally included minimum CLB 5, with higher
thresholds for regulated professions (CLB 7) or compulsory trades (CLB 6).
EOI Draw #50 highlighted Manitoba’s strategic approach to
immigration, selecting skilled workers both within the province and from
overseas who have the experience and connections to successfully integrate into
the local labour market. Monitoring draw trends, score cutoffs, and eligibility
requirements remains essential for prospective applicants under the Manitoba
Provincial Nominee Program.
