The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted
Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #54 on December 5, 2018, issuing a total of
530 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams.
Invitations were extended through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled
Worker Overseas – Strategic Recruitment, and Skilled Worker Overseas/Express
Entry pathways, highlighting Manitoba’s continued commitment to attracting
skilled candidates who can contribute to the province’s labour market.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 213 candidates
received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.
Lowest score invited: 375
This stream focuses on applicants already employed in
Manitoba. Candidates with stable employment, relevant work experience, and
strong language skills typically rank higher in the Expression of Interest
system. The comparatively lower cutoff score reflects the program’s flexibility
in supporting skilled workers within the province.
Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic
Recruitment
The Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic Recruitment stream
issued 62 invitations to candidates who were directly invited by the MPNP.
Lowest score invited: 711
These invitations were aimed at skilled professionals
residing outside Canada, selected through targeted recruitment initiatives.
Candidates were assessed on factors such as education, skilled work experience,
and alignment with Manitoba’s labour market priorities.
Skilled Worker Overseas / Express Entry
An additional 255 invitations were issued to candidates with
a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code or those with
strong Manitoba connections, such as having a close relative in the province or
previous education or work experience in Manitoba.
Eligibility requirements: At least six months of recent
experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List and a
minimum CLB 5, with higher benchmarks for regulated occupations (CLB 7) or
compulsory trades (CLB 6).
EOI Draw #54 demonstrated Manitoba’s continued multi-stream strategy, selecting
skilled workers already in the province, overseas applicants identified through
strategic recruitment, and Express Entry candidates with Manitoba connections
or in-demand experience. By balancing these streams, Manitoba continues to
strengthen its workforce and address labour market needs. Tracking draw
results, cutoff scores, and eligibility criteria remains essential for
prospective applicants under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
