The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #81 on January 17, 2020, issuing a total of 249
Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This
draw continued Manitoba’s focus on selecting candidates who demonstrated strong
potential to contribute to the province’s labour market.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 192 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited
having a score of 545. The higher cutoff score reflected significant
competition among in-province applicants, underscoring the importance of secure
employment, strong language proficiency, and well-prepared Expression of
Interest profiles.
The International Education Stream accounted for 23
invitations, providing opportunities for eligible Manitoba graduates who met
employment and program criteria. While this stream does not rely on a ranking
score threshold, strict adherence to eligibility requirements and proper
documentation remained essential for successful nomination.
Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 34 candidates were
invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 708. The
competitive cutoff score highlighted Manitoba’s selective approach toward
overseas applicants, where strong human capital factors, occupational demand
alignment, and credible provincial connections were critical for success.
Of the 249 Letters of Advice to Apply issued in Draw #81, 22 were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number
and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations offered
selected applicants the advantage of faster federal processing and a more
streamlined pathway to permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw #81 demonstrated Manitoba’s
competitive and structured approach to provincial nominations at the beginning
of 2020, balancing in-province workforce retention with targeted overseas
selection. Tracking draw trends and ranking score movements remained important
for prospective candidates seeking nomination in future rounds.
