The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #84 on February 27, 2020, issuing a total of 217
Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This
draw continued Manitoba’s structured approach to selecting candidates capable
of meeting provincial labour market needs.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 161 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited
having a score of 499. The cutoff score reflected steady competition among
in-province applicants, emphasizing the importance of stable employment, strong
language proficiency, and well-prepared Expression of Interest profiles.
The International Education Stream accounted for 32
invitations, providing opportunities for eligible Manitoba graduates who met
employment and program requirements. Although this stream does not rely on a
ranking score system, strict compliance with eligibility criteria and complete
documentation remained essential for successful nomination.
Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 24 candidates were
invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 707. The high
cutoff score highlighted the competitive nature of overseas selection, where
strong human capital factors, occupational demand alignment, and credible
provincial connections were key determinants of success.
Of the 217 Letters of Advice to Apply issued in Draw #84, 20
were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number
and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations offered
selected applicants faster federal processing and a streamlined pathway to
permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw #84 demonstrated Manitoba’s
consistent and competitive provincial nomination strategy in early 2020,
balancing in-province workforce retention with targeted overseas recruitment.
Tracking ranking score trends remained important for candidates preparing for
future draws.
