The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #85 on March 12, 2020, issuing a total of 222
Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This
draw reflected Manitoba’s continued focus on selecting skilled candidates who
could contribute effectively to the province’s labour market.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 191 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited
having a score of 496. The cutoff score indicated steady competition among
in-province applicants, emphasizing the importance of stable employment, strong
language proficiency, and accurate Expression of Interest profile submissions.
The International Education Stream accounted for 18
invitations, offering opportunities for eligible Manitoba graduates who met
employment and program criteria. While this stream does not operate on a
ranking score system, strict compliance with eligibility requirements and
complete documentation remained essential for successful nomination.
Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 13 candidates were
invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 672. The
comparatively moderate cutoff score suggested a selective but accessible round
for overseas applicants, where strong human capital factors and alignment with
Manitoba’s labour market needs remained critical.
Of the 222 Letters of Advice to Apply issued in Draw #85, 17
were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number
and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations provided
selected applicants with faster federal processing and a streamlined pathway to
permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw #85 demonstrated Manitoba’s
structured and competitive provincial nomination approach in early 2020,
balancing support for in-province workers with targeted overseas recruitment.
Monitoring ranking score trends remained important for prospective candidates
preparing for future draws.
