The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #88 on April 23, 2020, issuing a total of 132 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This draw reflected Manitoba’s continued but more measured selection approach during a period of global uncertainty.
Under the Skilled Worker in
Manitoba stream, 93 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the
lowest-ranked candidate invited having a score of 489. The cutoff score
indicated moderate competition among in-province applicants, emphasizing the importance
of stable employment, strong language proficiency, and accurate Expression of
Interest profile submissions.
The International Education
Stream accounted for 14 invitations, providing opportunities for eligible
Manitoba graduates who met employment and program criteria. Although this
stream does not rely on a ranking score system, strict compliance with eligibility
requirements and complete documentation remained essential for successful
nomination.
Under the Skilled Worker
Overseas stream, 25 candidates were invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate
having a score of 714. The high cutoff score reflected the competitive nature
of overseas selection, where strong human capital factors, occupational alignment
with provincial labour demand, and credible provincial connections were
critical for success.
Of the issued in Draw #88, 7 were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations provided selected applicants with faster federal processing and a streamlined pathway to permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw
#88 demonstrated Manitoba’s cautious yet structured provincial nomination
strategy in early 2020, maintaining opportunities for in-province workers and
selective overseas candidates while adapting to changing circumstances. Monitoring
ranking score trends remained important for prospective applicants preparing
for future draws.
