The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #90 on May 21, 2020, issuing a total of 99 Letters
of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This draw
reflected Manitoba’s measured approach to provincial nominations during a time
of continued global uncertainty.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 72 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited
having a score of 485. The cutoff score indicated moderate competition among
in-province applicants, highlighting the importance of stable employment,
strong language proficiency, and accurate Expression of Interest profile
submissions.
The International Education Stream accounted for 12
invitations, offering opportunities to eligible Manitoba graduates who met
employment and program criteria. While this stream does not operate on a
ranking score system, strict adherence to eligibility requirements and thorough
documentation remained essential for successful nomination.
Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 15 candidates were
invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 613. The cutoff
score reflected selective overseas invitations, where strong human capital
factors, occupation alignment with Manitoba’s labour market, and credible
provincial connections were key considerations.
Of the 99 Letters of Advice to Apply issued in Draw #90, 9
were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number
and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations provided
selected applicants with faster federal processing and a streamlined pathway to
permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw #90 demonstrated Manitoba’s
cautious and structured approach to provincial nominations in mid-2020,
balancing support for in-province skilled workers with targeted overseas
recruitment. Monitoring ranking score trends remained important for prospective
candidates preparing for future draws.
