Manitoba conducted Expression of Interest Draw #165 on
January 12, 2023, marking the first MPNP draw of 2023. A total of 322 Letters
of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued across multiple immigration streams,
reflecting Manitoba’s continued focus on retaining local talent while
addressing labour market needs through overseas recruitment.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 260 candidates
received LAAs, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited having a ranking score
of 734. This stream continued to prioritize individuals already working and
contributing to Manitoba’s economy.
The International Education Stream issued 42 LAAs to
eligible international graduates, supporting Manitoba’s objective of retaining
skilled students educated in the province.
Through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 20 candidates were invited under targeted selection, with the lowest-ranked candidate scoring
713. These invitations supported Manitoba employers in meeting specific
workforce demands through strategic overseas recruitment.
Of the 322 LAAs issued in this draw, 27 were granted to
candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker
validation code, allowing for faster progression toward permanent residence at
the federal level.
This first draw of 2023 set the tone for Manitoba’s balanced
immigration approach, combining local retention with targeted international
recruitment.
