On September 20, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship
Canada (IRCC) conducted Express Entry Draw #264, targeting candidates working
in transport-related occupations under the category-based selection system.
In this draw, 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were
issued to eligible candidates, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System
(CRS) score of 435. This relatively lower CRS cutoff compared to general
draws reflected IRCC’s focused approach to addressing labour shortages in
Canada’s transportation sector.
The transport occupations category includes roles that are
critical to Canada’s supply chain, logistics, and infrastructure, such as truck
drivers, transport operators, and other related professions. By conducting a
category-specific draw, IRCC aimed to attract skilled workers who can
immediately contribute to economic stability and growth across provinces.
This draw demonstrated a clear opportunity for candidates in
transport occupations who may not have been competitive in all-program draws
but met the criteria under category-based selection. It also highlighted IRCC’s
ongoing shift toward occupation-focused immigration strategies rather than
relying solely on high CRS scores.
A&M Canadian Immigration Law Corporation assists Express
Entry candidates with eligibility assessment, NOC verification, CRS
optimization, and application preparation for both category-based and general
Express Entry draws, ensuring applicants are well-positioned for future
invitations.
