Manitoba conducted Expression of Interest Draw #171 on March
9, 2023, issuing a total of 597 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) under the
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program. This draw focused on occupation-specific
needs while continuing to invite candidates across all major MPNP pathways.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, an
occupation-specific selection targeted profiles currently employed in Manitoba
within NOC 2021 major group 65 (sales and service support occupations), a
sector identified with high labour needs in the Manitoba Labour Market Outlook.
A total of 224 LAAs were issued in this category, with the lowest-ranked
candidate scoring 612.
All remaining eligible Skilled Worker in Manitoba profiles
that were not selected under the occupation-specific category were also
considered. This resulted in 277 LAAs being issued, with the lowest-ranked
candidate scoring 675, ensuring broader access for candidates working in
Manitoba across various occupations.
The International Education Stream issued 53 LAAs to
eligible graduates, supporting Manitoba’s efforts to retain international
students contributing to the province’s workforce.
Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 43 candidates were
invited through a strategic recruitment initiative, with the lowest-ranked
candidate scoring 666. These invitations assist Manitoba employers in
attracting skilled workers from outside the province to meet targeted labour
needs.
Of the 597 LAAs issued in this draw, 45 were granted to
candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker
validation code, providing a pathway from provincial nomination to federal
permanent residence.
This draw highlights Manitoba’s continued focus on
high-demand sectors while maintaining a balanced approach to skilled worker
recruitment and international graduate retention.
