MPNP Expression of Interest: How to Create and Update Your EOI Profile

An Expression of Interest (EOI) is the first step for many applicants under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). It is an online profile used to rank candidates based on factors such as work experience, education, language ability and Manitoba connections.

Your EOI should always be accurate and up to date. If your circumstances change while you are in the pool, update your existing EOI and resubmit it.

Common reasons to update an EOI include:

·         completing another year of work experience;

·         receiving new language-test results;

·         completing further education;

·         changing employment;

·         obtaining professional licensing;

·         changes in family circumstances; or

·         changes to Manitoba or Express Entry information.

Do not claim future qualifications or work experience before they are completed.

Updating Work Experience

Work experience should generally be declared in completed full years. For example, 11 months is less than 1 year, 1 year and 10 months is 1 completed year, and 3 years and 11 months is 3 completed years.

If you complete another full year of qualifying work experience while your EOI is active, update and resubmit your profile.

Updating an EOI does not restart its validity period. EOI is generally valid for one year from the original submission date.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is an Expression of Interest?

An EOI is an online profile used by MPNP to rank candidates who may later receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA).

2. Can I submit more than one EOI at the same time?

No. You should generally have only one active EOI. Update your existing profile when circumstances change.

3. Does my Expression of Interest expire?

Yes. EOI is generally valid for one year from the date it is submitted.

4. Is there a fee to submit an EOI?

No fee is generally charged to create and submit an MPNP EOI.

5. How do I calculate my work experience?

Count completed full years of qualifying work experience. Do not round upward. If you complete another full year before receiving an LAA, update your EOI.

6. When should I answer “Yes” to being fully recognized by a Manitoba licensing body?

Only when your occupation is regulated and you have actually completed the required licensing or recognition process in Manitoba.

7. What is the difference between an Express Entry (EE) and an MPNP Expression of Interest (EOI) profile?

In Express Entry, work experience points are automatically updated as time passes. However, in MPNP EOI, applicants must manually update their work experience and other relevant information to keep their profiles accurate and up to date.

8. How long is an MPNP Expression of Interest (EOI) profile valid?

An MPNP EOI profile is valid for one year (12 months) from the date of submission. If you do not receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) within that period, your profile expires, and you must submit a new EOI to remain eligible for future draws.
