The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted
Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #47 on July 6, 2018, issuing a total of 555
Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams.
Invitations were distributed through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled
Worker Overseas, and Express Entry sub-stream, continuing Manitoba’s focus on
attracting skilled candidates who can contribute to the province’s labour
market and economy.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 104 candidates
received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.
Lowest score invited: 564
This pathway is designed for individuals already working in
Manitoba. Candidates with steady employment, relevant work experience, and
strong language skills generally rank higher in the Expression of Interest
system.
Skilled Worker Overseas – Strategic
Recruitment
The Skilled Worker Overseas stream issued 32 invitations to
candidates directly invited by the MPNP under strategic recruitment
initiatives.
Lowest score invited: 639
These candidates were selected for their potential to
contribute to Manitoba’s economy and labour market priorities, often
demonstrating strong educational credentials, skilled work experience, and
relevant provincial connections.
Skilled Worker Overseas – Manitoba
Connections
An additional 217 invitations were issued to overseas
applicants with strong connections to Manitoba, such as having a close relative
in the province or previous education or work experience in Manitoba.
Lowest score invited: 572
Eligible candidates were required to have at least six months of recent experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List. Language proficiency requirements included minimum CLB 5, with higher thresholds for certain professions. Regulated occupations generally required CLB 7, and compulsory trades required CLB 6.
Express Entry Sub-Stream
Through the Express Entry sub-stream, 202 LAAs were issued
to candidates with a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation
code.
Lowest score invited: 519
Applicants invited under this stream were also required to
have recent work experience in an in-demand occupation in Manitoba. Provincial
nomination through this pathway provides 600 additional CRS points,
significantly boosting the likelihood of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
for permanent residence in Canada.
EOI Draw #47 illustrated Manitoba’s multi-stream immigration
approach, combining the selection of skilled workers already in the province,
overseas applicants with Manitoba connections, and Express Entry candidates
with in-demand experience. This strategy continues to address the province’s
labour market needs while strengthening its workforce. Monitoring draw trends,
minimum scores, and eligibility criteria remains essential for prospective
applicants under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
