The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted
Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #57 on January 31, 2019, issuing a total of
299 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. The
draw showcased Manitoba’s ongoing commitment to selecting skilled workers and
international graduates capable of contributing to the province’s labour market
and economic priorities.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 124 candidates
received invitations.
Lowest-ranked candidate invited: 575
The cutoff score indicated moderate competition among
in-province candidates. Applicants with stable employment in Manitoba, relevant
work experience, and strong language proficiency were best positioned to secure
invitations.
International Education Stream
The International Education Stream (IES) issued 17
invitations to eligible Manitoba graduates.
This stream focuses on candidates who have completed an approved Manitoba
post-secondary program and meet employment eligibility requirements. Careful
preparation and proper documentation are critical for successful nomination.
Skilled Worker Overseas
The Skilled Worker Overseas stream issued 16 invitations to
candidates directly invited by the MPNP under strategic recruitment
initiatives.
Lowest-ranked candidate invited: 705
These invitations highlighted Manitoba’s selective overseas recruitment
strategy. Candidates typically demonstrate strong education credentials,
skilled work experience, language proficiency, and credible provincial
connections aligned with labour market needs.
Of the 299 LAAs issued, candidates who declared a valid
Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code were also
considered if they met additional criteria:
● At least 6 months
of recent experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List,
or
● A close relative
residing in Manitoba, or past education or work experience in Manitoba
● Minimum language
proficiency of CLB 5 (CLB 7 for regulated occupations, CLB 6 for compulsory
trades)
These criteria ensured that Express Entry-aligned candidates
had strong ties to Manitoba and met provincial labour market demands, improving
the likelihood of successful nomination.
Expression of Interest Draw #57 reflected Manitoba’s
balanced approach to immigration, supporting skilled workers already
established in the province while maintaining strategic, targeted recruitment
of overseas candidates. Monitoring cutoff scores, stream-specific criteria, and
strategic initiatives remains essential for prospective applicants planning
their Manitoba immigration pathway.
