The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #83 on February 13, 2020, issuing a total of 242
Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This
draw reflected Manitoba’s continued effort to select candidates who could
effectively contribute to the province’s labour market.
Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 182 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited
having a score of 525. The cutoff score indicated strong competition among
in-province applicants, highlighting the importance of stable employment,
strong language proficiency, and accurate Expression of Interest profile
submissions.
The International Education Stream accounted for 33
invitations, providing opportunities for eligible Manitoba graduates who met
employment and program criteria. Although this stream does not rely on a
ranking score threshold, strict adherence to eligibility requirements and
comprehensive documentation remained essential for successful nomination.
Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 27 candidates were
invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 611. The
comparatively lower cutoff score suggested a more accessible round for overseas
applicants, though strong human capital factors and alignment with Manitoba’s
labour market needs remained key considerations.
Of the 242 Letters of Advice to Apply issued in Draw #83, 15
were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number
and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations provided
selected applicants with the advantage of faster federal processing and a
streamlined pathway to permanent residence.
Expression of Interest Draw #83 demonstrated Manitoba’s
balanced and structured approach to provincial nominations in early 2020,
supporting in-province talent retention while maintaining opportunities for
overseas candidates. Monitoring draw trends and ranking score movements
remained important for prospective applicants seeking nomination in future
rounds.
