MPNP Expression of Interest Draw #86

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #86 on March 26, 2020, issuing a total of 226 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This draw took place during a period of growing global uncertainty, yet Manitoba continued selecting candidates aligned with provincial labour market priorities.

Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 168 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited having a score of 496. The cutoff score reflected steady competition among in-province applicants, highlighting the continued importance of stable employment, language proficiency, and accurately prepared Expression of Interest profiles.

The International Education Stream accounted for 20 invitations, offering opportunities to eligible Manitoba graduates who met employment and program criteria. While this stream does not rely on a ranking score threshold, strict adherence to eligibility requirements and proper documentation remained essential for successful nomination.

Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 38 candidates were invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 714. The high cutoff score underscored the competitive nature of overseas selection, where strong human capital factors, occupational alignment with provincial demand, and credible provincial connections were critical for receiving an invitation.

Of the 226 Letters of Advice to Apply issued in Draw #86, 29 were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations provided selected applicants with faster federal processing and a more streamlined pathway to permanent residence.

Expression of Interest Draw #86 demonstrated Manitoba’s continued commitment to its provincial nomination objectives, maintaining a balanced and competitive selection process while adapting to evolving global conditions. Monitoring ranking score trends remained important for candidates preparing for future draws.
