MPNP Expression of Interest Draw #87

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted Expression of Interest Draw #87 on April 9, 2020, issuing a total of 153 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple immigration streams. This draw reflected Manitoba’s continued efforts to select candidates who could contribute to the province’s labour market during a period of evolving global challenges.

Under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, 123 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited having a score of 500. The cutoff score indicated ongoing competition among in-province applicants, emphasizing the importance of stable employment, strong language proficiency, and carefully prepared Expression of Interest profiles.

The International Education Stream accounted for 14 invitations, offering opportunities to eligible Manitoba graduates who met employment and program requirements. While this stream does not rely on a ranking score system, strict compliance with eligibility criteria and thorough documentation remained essential for successful nomination.

Under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, 16 candidates were invited, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 742. The notably high cutoff score highlighted the highly competitive nature of overseas selection during this round, where strong human capital factors, occupational demand alignment, and credible provincial connections were critical.

Of the 153 Letters of Advice to Apply issued in Draw #87, 15 were granted to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code. Express Entry-aligned nominations offered selected applicants the benefit of faster federal processing and a more streamlined pathway to permanent residence.

Expression of Interest Draw #87 demonstrated Manitoba’s cautious yet structured provincial nomination strategy in early 2020, balancing support for in-province skilled workers with selective overseas recruitment. Monitoring ranking score movements remained important for candidates preparing for future draws.
